If you've been to the club recently you will be well aware that the access road that serves our property immediately off Lee Moor Road is in an appalling condition and desperately needs remedial action.
We have pursued Wakefield MDC in an endeavour to get the requisite repair work carried out. This has been a fruitless exercise as Wakefield MDC deny any liability for the maintenance of this road. Further investigations indicate that no one appears to know who owns the section of road and similarly no one has any direct liability to take the necessary remedial action.
Albeit we do not own this road we have decided that something must happen and accordingly we are going to take, a no liability, action to carry out some remedial works to the area in question.
Complete resurfacing would probably be well in excess of £10,000. We have committed therefore to spend around £2,000 on materials and plant to carry out the pothole filling element of the works with the significant labour requirement being provided voluntarily by our club members. This will unfortunately still represent only a temporary measure but hopefully will last longer than that previously adopted.
The works are to be carried out on the morning of Saturday 10 August 2024. During the time 8.00 to 1.30pm and it would be great if you could provide assistance in carrying out these works for some or all of the time.
If you are unable to provide physical support your participation distributing drinks and the like would be equally appreciated.
