Rods tasted victory for the first time this season with a hard fought win at Nestle Rowntree.

Nestle Rowntree started the stronger and built a healthy lead of 18-5 . The Rods try being scored by Andy Mosby.

Rods dug deep and worked their way back into the game with Tom Tooley breaking through to score an excellent try, which Adam Scrafton converted. It was Adam Scrafton whose accurate penalties allowed Rods to put themselves in front, 4 penalties were slotted and Rods led 18 - 24.

The last few minute found Rods hanging on as Nestle Rowntree scored a late try to make it 23 - 24. Rods were therefore pleased to hear the final whistle in this close game .

After the opening two fixtures Rods are placed fourth in the League, as they go in to a break from the League next week with a friendly game away v Castleford 2nds.
