Stanley Rodillians RUFC played a return fixture with Yarnbury 3rds away at Horsforth on Saturday.

The team was bolstered with 4 players players from Halifax Vandals for which we have an agreement with as our lads travel to Halifax for their fixtures.
The game was played in a great spirit with Yarnbury running hard from the first whistle. With a couple of Rods players missing the defence wasn't as strong as it should have been with the home team making good yards after the 1st tackle . Yarnbury had a few changes from the week before and where a stronger side , with the better conditions a handling game paid dividends scoring so good tries.
The Rods stuck at it with a strong scrum against bigger opponents Pete Burrows going well until a knee injury put paid to his day 10 minutes from the end supported by hooker Callum Gerrard. Fellow prop Rich Robinson and No8 Steve Hawksworth had good games in the loose with some good charges.

The second half started better with the Rods getting some go forward with Josh Anderson linking well with the stand off Ben Simms. Tom Stafford and Andy Whittles backing up the breaks and protecting the ball better at breakdown an area we failed at in the first half with too many turnovers. The Rods scrum half Chris Walker's disruption is improving with every game and Martin Pritchard directing the defence from full back.

Levi Ewart was voted man of the match by Yarnbury after continuing his dominant defensive display from the week before.
The Rods are still on the look out for players as we continue to build a squad if your interested please contact:
