Rods juniors hit the road today for our first away game of the season. We headed over to Ossett to give there newly formed junior section their first ever game.
The fixture looked in doubt as rods have suffered some injuries of late but in stepped our close friends from corinthians to make our numbers up and allow the game to go ahead.
Rods/corinthians dominated from the start as you could tell they had been the clubs playing for longer and some great rugby played by all, but credit goes to Ossett as they soon picked up there game and made a great comeback showing they have trained well and were not just there for numbers.
Credit to all that turned out today from all three clubs, a great game of rugby was played and fun was had by all kids involved. Showing what rugby is all about,We here at Stanley Rodillians juniors wish Ossett all the best going forward and hope we meet again soon.
Again a massive shout out and thank you to corinthians for coming along and playing with us, the rods would have struggled this season had it not been for you.
Rugby was definitely the winner today and new friends made between the 3 clubs.
The Rods are looking for more players boys and girls we train Tuesdays at 6.30.
We are hoping to start a girls section look out for an announcement soon

Rugby returned to a sunny but soggy rods today for our junior section as we hosted close friends leeds corinthians.
The game was played in great spirit by the kids and turned into a very competitive but fun game. All players showing some great skill this week and was commented on by corinthians as to how much the kids have progressed since their last visit.
Some great tackling and rucking by Luke saw him take rods player of the match as well as corinthians opposition player of the match.
Charlotte took away 100% effort from the game for attitude towards playing and keeping the team working together.
A massive thank you goes out to corinthians again for loaning us some players and giving our juniors game time, we look forward to playing with and against you again in the near future.
If you want to get involved training is Tuesday evenings 6.30 till 7.30

Sunday 4th Of December, Rods Tags travelled to our friends at Castleford for a great morning of Rugby.

A big thank you for the warm welcome received from Castleford we will see you again soon.

Rods Juniors welcome Leeds Corinthians to Manley Park .

Today saw two local teams come together to give the rods juniors their first run out of the season. Rods hosted visitors corinthians in a close and very competitive game, with all kids getting decent game time.
Rods were captained by Charlotte, in her first ever game and she didn't disappoint demanding great play from her team mates and gaining coaches player for her efforts.
Some strong play by the big lads in the team with great tackling by Luke and some great driving and ball playing by Riley resulting in riley taking opposition player of the match, voted for by the corinthians parents.
Due to strong play by the big lads and good hands and passing by Charlotte this left Louis to play free as he likes to do and moving all over the field playing in every position you could think of and scoring some brilliant tries, this gained Louis the 100% effort award.
Not forgetting the great effort from all the players from corinthians who volunteered to play for us, they too played a massive part in getting the Rods a great game and played as if they had trained and played with us for months.
Rods voted Zach as opposition player of match for corinthians putting in some crunching tackles and great runs, until a unfortunate injury put time to his play just before half time.
Shout out to every player that came today for both teams, all the players from the Rods can't wait for the return fixture next month.

Impressed was an understatement last night, I wasn't sure it would work having open age players training at the same night as the Juniors, after training the open age kicker was spending some time practicing his goal kicking.

My daughter who adores anything with regards rugby was asking questions about his technique whilst stood in the clubhouse, one of the players also in the clubhouse said why don't you ask him, she was a little apprehensive so he took her over to him, what followed was a 30 minute session teaching her and 5 other kids how to goal kick.
So if the Rodillians lose any matches due to goal kicking it's definitely the kids fault as he's spending more time teaching the kids 😂

When players make themselves available to the youngsters and integration occurs you build more fans for the game. I get the sense something is building here just want more people to see it.

Junior training is 6-30pm on a Tuesday if you have a child that's in Year 1-6 school age then bring them down and see what the fuss is about.
Big thanks to all the open age players that are making these kids feel welcome.
