It is with deep regret that we have been advised that John Moore (brother of Richard) has unfortunately passed away on 11 November at the age of 77. Evidently John had been suffering with a respiratory problem for ten years and unfortunately it eventually took its toll.
He started playing rugby at Rothwell Grammar School, and then joined the club in the early 60s and played in and out of the first team for over 10 years and went on to play nearly 60 games for the first team and numerous other appearances in the lower teams.
John was always a stalwart follower, supporter and benefactor of the club and despite moving to Devon in more recent times continued to have an active participation in the club.
A lot of you will not have known John but he was an integral element that allowed the club to develop through the 60s and 70s and help generate the facility we have today.
Our sincere condolences go out to John’s family and friends.
We do not have details of the funeral arrangements yet but have been advised this will be in Devon. We will pass on associated details as and when they become available.
