Stanley Rodillians 31 Corinthians 2nds 31
With Rodillians still struggling to field a full strength side, Corinthians second team accepted the invitation to hold a friendly at Manley Park and were happy to make up a shortfall in the Rods side.
Both teams took advantage of the good weather to run the ball at every opportunity and the scoreline reflects an entertaining game, enjoyed by all who turned up to watch.
Rods defended well early on but quick play of the ball by Corinthians saw them score out wide. Rods reacted with a try of their own and this seemed to set the tone of the match with neither side dominating play.
Anton Porter once again proved his worth with some strong runs and some great tackling skills were also on display.
Rods did have a tendency to opt for kicks when it would have been better to retain possession, one such incident leading to an excellent run from Corinthians full back which led to a try.
The small home crowd got their wish when a late try secured a deserved draw for the Rods team especially after having to play a man down due to injury for a long period of play.
Thanks go to Gary Demaine who stepped up to referee the game.
