Sheffield Oaks RUFC
Stanley Rodillians RUFC
Stanley Rodillians travelled to Sheffield Oaks in a re-arranged League fixture, hoping to continue their recent good form, knowing a win could take them up to 4th in the league.

As the game kicked off it was clear Oaks had their own ideas on the outcome of this match. Rods were unable to secure the ball from the kick off and Oaks were soon applying pressure on the Rods line. The defence was holding firm, until a lapse in discipline gave a penalty away and Oaks converted to lead 3-0.

From the restart Rods started to build, and soon found their way down field. After a period in control of the game It was Adam Scrafton who dived into the corner to get Rods on the scoresheet, the conversion slid by but Rods were back in it at 3 - 5.

The try had annoyed Oaks who immediately answered back, with 2 tries, one of which was a clean break through the backs, the score moved to 13-5.
Captaincy for the match had been handed to the experienced Nathan Booth; it was he who was to lead by example as he crashed over the Oaks try line to Rods right back into the match at 13-10 down.

Rods then found themselves on the wrong end of the referee's whistle and the penalty decision gave Oaks the opportunity to add 3 points which they gratefully accepted, Oaks now leading 16-10.

Rods were to take the last points of the first half, stand-off Ciaran Shier used centre Adie Carr as a perfect decoy and went clean through , leaving the game poised at Oaks 16 - 15 Rods at half time.

The second half kicked off and Rods began to dominate in both the forward exchanges and the breaks from the backs. Ciaran Shier was proving the difference making several clean breaks and whilst a number went unfinished Ciaran soon found himself with a second try in the game which Adam Scrafton converted and Rods had the lead 16-22.

The set piece dominance and strength of the back division kept Rods in control and unfortunate not to score again as Pete Freeman went close, but was adjudged to have knocked on as he dived over the line. The final act of the game was left to Adam Scrafton who in the blustery conditions converted a penalty and Rods had a bonus point win.

final score Oaks 16 - 25 Rods.
